Present your work at The Apothecary

Wednesday February 18, 2026

We’re launching something brand new for the spring! BUMP Festival Arts Society invites Calgary-based artists to submit work for The Apothecary, a month-long curated exhibition and activated community space exploring medicine and health in their many forms.

Hosted in an underutilized commercial space in Chinatown, The Apothecary will function as a contemporary third space: part exhibition, part gathering site, part archive of how we understand care in this moment of social strain, political uncertainty, and collective fatigue.

We are primarily reviewing existing bodies of work. Rather than proposing something entirely new, we want to see what conversations your practice is already holding. This means submitting work you have already completed.

We welcome work that responds to the idea of medicine in a broad and expansive sense. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Healthcare systems, access, and policy
  • Care as resistance and mutual aid
  • Mental Health
  • Disability and chronic illness
  • Cultural healing practices
  • Ancestral knowledge and intergenerational care
  • Grief, survival, and recovery
  • Culturally specific approaches to health
  • Medicine as ritual or spirituality
  • Art as critique, antidote, or site of care

There is no prescribed medium or aesthetic. Artists are welcome to submit works across disciplines, including ceramics, small-scale sculptures, paintings, textiles, photography, sound, or other material and experimental practices. Submissions may be subtle or confrontational, personal or collective, speculative or documentary.

Deadline: March 8, 2026, 11:59 PM MST.
