BUMP Cinematheque

In November 2022 we launched the BUMP Cinematheque – a hybrid event which was a film premiere, exhibition and party. On the tail end of our biggest year to date, we wanted to keep finding new ways to use our growing presence and expertise in Western Canada to highlight visual artists and host important artistic conversations in our city.

This inaugural Cinematheque was held at Contemporary Calgary and premiered our first commissioned film, IN THIS MOMENT. Our film was shown alongside two Alberta shorts curated by the Calgary International Film Festival and the night included a curated exhibition of 9 artists within Contemporary Calgary. The aim of this new event is to create a space for new, emerging and established artists to meet each other, forge connections and recognize themselves as influential creators in this city. BUMP Cinematheque intends to be a vehicle that commissions filmmakers, programs art and ultimately provides a unique experience for artists and patrons in a new Calgary for 2022 and beyond.
