2023 BUMP BEER
Since 2022 BUMP Festival has been partnering with Calgary’s best brewery, The Establishment Brewing Company, to create an iconic summer Beer to celebrate our mural festival. In the spirit of our budding art scene, these beer cans have labels designed by Calgary based BUMP artists.
2023 Road Works artist Matthew Springer was invited to design this year’s beer; we asked him to embrace the spirit of PLAY and create a design to help us represent this year’s themes. We are proud to give you the beer of the summer, Meet Me In The City!
When we think about the 2023 BUMP summer, we see dozens of murals, a month of festivities, and one show-stopping brew – all reasons you’re going to be calling up your friends to ‘Meet Me In the City’ throughout the month of August. In working with Establishment Brewing for this new beer, one goal rang clear to their team of incredible brewers; they thought just like the murals that adorn our city’s walls, this brew should be for the people. As the artists picked up their brushes, Establishment dove into gentle, new-world hops and soft malt. The final product is a fantastic, lush and breezy New Zealand Pilsner.
“This design is a fun and playful approach to visually representing the incredible creative energy that thrives within the City of Calgary. It is a celebration of the diverse people and their vibrant communities that take pride in supporting one another and encourage individuals to be their true selves and enjoy life. The bright colours and characters in the image flow to reflect the spirits of people who continue to inspire us everyday to pursue our passions and dreams. I hope that whoever enjoys this beverage will think of someone who is special to them and has brought joy to their daily lives.” says Matthew about his exciting design.
