What Should I Bring?

BUMP recommends wearing layers that can protect you from sun, wind, and rain. Waterproof, closed-toed shoes will help to keep you comfortable on a long walk through Calgary’s downtown streets. When in doubt, check the weather forecast and be prepared for temperature fluctuations.

How Can I Stay Safe?

Hazards we may encounter during mural tours include, but are not limited to Uneven Terrain, Traffic, Construction, Debris and Needles, Weather, Unfamiliar Locations, Detours.

BUMP Mural Tour Guides are First Aid Certified; will carry a stocked First Aid Kit and Naloxone Injection Kit; and will carry a charged cell phone and list of Emergency Contacts.

Stay Together

Tour Participants should stay with the tour guide and the group. Tour guides will wait for everyone at street crossings or any place that the group may have to separate momentarily.

Stay Alert

Tours will take place in public and outdoors. There may be uneven walking surfaces, debris, or other hazards that we cannot control, so watch your step.

Respect People and Spaces

Tours will take place in shared spaces, which may mean interactions with unfamiliar people. We ask that you treat everyone with kindness and dignity.
Respect the spaces we are in and refrain from intentionally damaging property.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

Harassment, Hate Speech and Harm will not be tolerated. Infringement of the rights and safety of any other tour participant or the tour guide may result in the tour being ended early, or the removal of the tour participant. If at any point during the tour you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please let your Tour Guide know.

Dignity and Respect

The Tour Guide and Participants should uphold an environment where everyone is treated with respect, and is not subjected to harassment or discrimination.

Expression

Tour Participants have the right to engage and participate in dialogue, examine diverse views and ideas; and to share feedback.

Autonomy

Tour Participants have the right to refuse any activities involved in a BUMP mural tour or to leave the tour at any point. Tour Participants are responsible for their behaviour and for following BUMP policies in order to participate in the tour.

Safety

Tour Guides will make a reasonable effort to ensure a safe mural tour, or cancel the tour if continuing would risk the safety of any person. Participants must follow safety instructions and policies; and not intentionally endanger anyone.

Accessibility

BUMP will make a reasonable effort to accommodate any support needed to participate in a tour, as long as the participant has made us aware of their needs prior to the tour.

Transparency

Tour Participants have the right to receive true and understandable information about the BUMP Mural Tour; and the quality of the tour programming should be comparable to what was advertised.

Privacy

Personal information about tour participants will not be shared without explicit consent, unless necessary for legal or safety reasons.
