Meet our 2024 Road Works Cohort!

Monday April 15, 2024

Road Works 2024 is here! 🚧🎨 This year, we’re pushing boundaries and sparking conversations with 21 new visionary local artists who will transform Calgary’s streets into a fun, elevated gallery of the future. From cheeky monsters & playful creatures to boundary-pushing neo-expressionism and bold assertions about our era, expect to see art that ignites your imagination as this year’s Road Works cohort begins their work. This year’s artists include rising local stars and some new faces who are entering Calgary’s burgeoning arts scene and we are really excited to see how all of their ideas come together. If you didn’t already know, Road Works artists paint together on a joint site for two weeks – this space always leads to new community, artistic synergy and the opportunity to have artists work with each other to learn new techniques and ideas.

The 2024 Road Works artists are:

Katie Allard / Shuo Liu / Mayi Mosaver / test tube puppy / Vanja Kragulj / Maxwell Webber / Breehound / Orana / Diamond Dino / Kate Beck / Ventura Jones / Mitch Tukkimaki – Verwar Industries / Day Pajarillo / La Güita / Hal / Elucious / Macanjy / Kaitlynn Copithorne / Lusine Manukyan / No-Body:) / Tower

The BUMP Road Works Program was launched in 2021 with the City of Calgary to create safer adaptive patios and road infrastructure. This unique program creates small scale public art installations on concrete traffic barriers to be utilized in neighborhoods across Calgary. Artists who are curated to be a part of Roadworks are given the opportunity to create a series of 2-5 Road Works pieces, encouraging them to think about art that is functional and transient in the public realm.

Congratulations to the Road Works class of 2024, your arrival comes with a long awaited spring in Calgary. Happy painting to all of you! Stay tuned for artist announcements and behind-the-scenes from our Road Works site âš¡
