As BUMP continues to transform Calgary’s urban landscape with progressive public art, this latest initiative marks our first foray into a dedicated sculptural program. The selected Guest Curator will shape the vision and implementation of two to four new sculptural installations that will be placed throughout the Beltline neighbourhood.

This opportunity is open to Canadian and international curators who are passionate about activating public space and sparking dialogue through thought-provoking, contemporary sculpture. Whether your practice is rooted in social change, conceptual aesthetics, or place-based storytelling, we’re looking for a collaborator who can help expand the role of sculpture in Calgary’s evolving public art story.

About the Role:

The Guest Curator will:

– Research and understand the contemporary public art landscape of Calgary.
– Develop a curatorial vision for the public sculpture project.
– Research, identify, and invite artists to participate.
– Provide curatorial direction and ongoing support to selected artists.
– Collaborate with BUMP staff on project vision, site selection and project logistics.
– Identify community engagement initiatives in support of the project.
– Contribute to promotional and interpretive materials.

Curators will receive a $10,000 fee for their work, and will be supported by BUMP’s extensive infrastructure, local knowledge, and project management expertise.
