Panel 1
Public Art, Participation, and the Shifting Urban Landscape
August 08, 2024
10:30 am - 12:00 pm
How can public art be part of fostering vibrant communities and reshaping urban landscapes? Examining the unique conditions of the City of Calgary, participants will explore the potential of public art to catalyze community by looking at building and placemaking initiatives in other Canadian cities. This panel will explore this topic from many angles such as examining the relationship between muralism and architectural design; the potential for collaboration among artists, architects, and developers; and what it means for community to engage with, through, and alongside public art.
