BUMP DRIVE DAY 5: A PLATFORM FOR DIVERSE VOICES
Tuesday November 28, 2023
Since its inception, the BUMP Festival has strived to bring diversity to public art in Calgary/Mohkinstsis. Through the creation of new public mural works, we have created a platform for more voices, more perspectives, and more communities from across the region.
Equity-seeking communities have the power to lead conversations around access, bias, representation and identity. Diverse voices offer the opportunity to share unique stories and perspectives that can increase understanding, bridge communities, and create new ways to look at our own country. Through new voices in the arts, we are able to consider lesser known histories and find new ways to tell old stories.
In 2023, we showcased underrepresented and diverse voices, with:
- 50% of participating mural artists identifying as BIPOC or Indigenous
- 13% identifying as LGBTQIAS+
- 61% identifying as women/non-binary
Please give today to the 2023 BUMP Drive, running till November 30! Your generous gift will help transform our city!
