STROM

Alyssa Haggstrom builds a practice rooted in intuition rather than planning, where abstract imagery and form emerge through automatic, durational making. Born and raised in Mohkinstsis, the river is a constant presence in her work, shaping an approach grounded in flow, presence, and action. She works as both a dreamer and a realist. Her work creates expansive environments that invite viewers to experience internal shifts. Drawing from psychological ideas and scientific and mathematical understandings of the built world, she translates these systems into felt experience.

Alyssa compresses vast concepts into abstracted, symbolic forms, alongside intentional colour choices that create dense, layered works. Her practice is a synesthetic expression of lived experience, inviting reflection on the self and the wider universe.
