Said Dokins

Said Dokins is an artist and independent researcher whose work centers on investigating writing as a living system operating across bodies, territories, and technologies. He understands text as a material condition that is simultaneously linguistic, biological, spatial, and political, shaping how power is exercised. Through calligraphy, archival research, video, sound, found objects, bio-data tools, and murals, he examines how meaning is inscribed, erased, and reconfigured within
contemporary regimes of information.

He studied Visual Arts and Philosophy at National Autonomous University of Mexico UNAM. His work has been presented internationally, including participation in the Sixth Calligraphy Biennale at the Sharjah Art Museum (2024) and LOADING. L'art urbain à l'ère numérique at Grand Palais Immersif (2023). Most recently, he presented his individual exhibition Inscripciones at Laboratorio de Arte Alameda, Mexico City (2025). In 2015, he received the Premio Iberoamericano de Creación
Artística Contemporánea Cortes de Cádiz at Casa Iberoamérica in Spain. Alongside his artistic practice, he has curated and advised institutional projects including
Constelaciones urbanas for the Secretaría de Cultura de Nuevo León (2025–ongoing), Museum of Drug Policy with The Soze Agency and Open Society Foundations (2018), Visible invisibilización at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Zacatecas and Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro (2014) or Intersticios Urbanos at Centro Cultural de España en México (2011)
