Olivia Johnson (b. 1995) Lives and works in Mohkinstsis, Treaty 7. Her practice is rooted in paintings. It interweaves assemblage sculpture, performance, and video. She uses a multi-layered process and experimental approach. Cur- rent work elaborates on her relationship to narratives with- in surreal and abstract realms. She views her work from several lenses, addressing themes of intergenerational trauma, healing and reducing barriers for marginalized populations. For the summer of 2021, she worked with Pink Flamingo and Sans Fuccs to create The River That Never Rests, a mural outside the new location for the National accessArts centre.
