Lucia Blanco

Lucia Blanco is a designer who recently started exploring murals, especially ground murals as a new medium to engage people with their urban surroundings. She loves introducing vibrant colors and playful shapes into streetscape projects across Calgary. Her work uses palettes, lines and figures inspired by her Mexican culture to create lively mosaics that bring people to view the urban environment in a more interactive way. Lucia’s work in landscape architecture has led her to explore ground and vertical murals as a way to re-activate and transform the city. Her art is also inspired by the work of French architect and urbanist Yona Friedman who transformed surface pavement into elaborate and playful sceneries in Paris during the late 20 century.
