Katie Green

Calgary

Katie Green (they/them) is a visual artist based in Mohkínstsis, Treaty 7 Territory (Calgary, Alberta). Their painting practice centers on the emergence of characters and scenes that give form to internal sensory and emotional experiences. These figures act as companions to shifting states of perception, holding tension, contradiction, and felt experience within their presence. Working intuitively with fluid media, they allow figures to surface through a process of watching, responding, and coaxing presence into being.

This work extends into murals, sculpture, wearable masks, and community-engaged projects exploring identity, storytelling, and relational experience through character creation. Their work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and Calgary Arts Development. They have completed residencies at the Santa Fe Art Institute and the Vermont Studio Centre, and their murals have been realized across Canada, the United States, Belgium, Taiwan, and Germany.
