Kate Beck (she/her) is a university student and lettering and illustration artist based in Calgary (Mohkinstis), Alberta. She runs the studio Kate Letters Lots, where she specializes in bold colours, beautiful words, and all things niche and nerdy. She has a passion for women’s rights and history and LGBTQ+ rights and history, and much of her work is inspired by these areas. She also loves colourful and playful art that inspires hope and joy. Kate’s work has been featured in Applied Arts Magazine, the Woman of Type Book, and in Slanted Magazine’s Yearbook of Lettering. In 2023, she collaborated with Typism and the International Women’s Day Global organization to create an award-winning piece on the theme “embracing equity.” When she’s not drawing or studying, you can find Kate reading, catching up on her favourite shows, and spending time with her three spunky terrier mixes Bailey, Luna, and Scout.
