Harneet Chahal is a Panjabi Sikh visual artist. Her practice involves drawn and painted works utilizing a broad selection of media. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree and Masters in Public Health before pursuing a Medical Degree in Calgary where she now works as a Family Medicine Physician. Throughout her educational pursuits, her passion to create as a visual artist persisted. In the last few years she has developed an artistic practice that aims to capture the human experience from a migrant lens; one that tiptoes between the excess of our lives as westerners and the many life disrupting changes of previous generations. She explores memory and consciousness, contrasting grief with resilience and humor. Her practice ties in her passion for social justice among minority groups. More recently, she has begun to weave in threads of motherhood that have altered her perspective on the future we hope to shape.
