Emmett Pickering

Emmett Pickering is a queer artist of settler descent born and currently living in Mohkinstsis, Calgary, Alberta. They are a graduate of The Alberta University of the Arts, majoring in both drawing and fiber. In 2021

Emmett’s debut film, “Static in My Skin”, was screened at both Montreal’s Festival du Nouveau Cinéma and home province’s WFTA film festival. In 2023 their first published writing was brought to page in the Illingworth Ker Galleries Emerging Art Writers program #4 “Magic + Ritual”. Emmett’s multidisciplinary practice heavily focuses on their spiritual and bodily relationship to the land. Much of this work has been explored through the combined use of fiber practices, folk-magic, film and photography.
