Chris Lukas Maier is a Moh’kins’tsis/Calgary based artist, and recently graduated from
the University of Calgary with a BFA in Visual Studies with First Class Honours. Maier has given
art history lectures at the University of Calgary, and exhibited work in local public institutions
including The Nickle Galleries, Stride Gallery, and artsPlace Canmore. In 2023 he was the
recipient of the Kathleen and Russell Lane Canadian Art Award. Maier’s work has been featured
in various publications including Alberta Views Magazine and The Rocky Mountain Outlook.
Maier is a multimedia artist and typically uses oil, acrylic, spray paint, and ink amongst other
mediums. His work primarily explores the ways we navigate urban space and what it means to
live within cities. Maier currently works as a Gallery Attendant and Assistant Technician at
Contemporary Calgary, and as an Art Handler for Paul Jackson Fine Art Services.
