BUMP Urban Art Conference Returns — Save the Date for August 5–6, 2025

📍 Contemporary Calgary
🎨 Theme: Monuments & Memory
🗓 Presented in partnership with Calgary Foundation

We’re thrilled to announce the return of the BUMP Urban Art Conference this August 5–6, hosted for the first time at Contemporary Calgary. Now in its second year, the conference brings together artists, cultural workers, designers, and urban thinkers for two days of bold panels, hands-on workshops, and generative dialogue.

This year’s theme, Monuments & Memory, asks: What do our cities remember, and what do they choose to forget? In an age of transformation, displacement, and development, how can public art help us hold space for complexity, care, and collective vision? From sculptural installations to sonic archives, from the aesthetics of tourism to the politics of downtown revitalization, our programming will explore how memory is built  and who gets to build it.

This conference is presented in partnership with Calgary Foundation and Contemporary Calgary, with many more supporters who will be announced soon! The full speaker lineup and RSVP opens on July 7 — sign up for early access here.

💥 This conference is a part of the larger BUMP Festival taking place Aug 1-18 this year. This conference is also a part of a week-long BUMP & D.TALKS takeover of Contemporary Calgary. Following our conference, D.TALKS will host Design Week in the same space, extending the dialogue across disciplines and into new dimensions. (And… stay tuned for some very exciting announcements about this collaborative week )

With over 400 public art projects programmed in Calgary to date, BUMP Festival continues to reimagine Calgary’s walls, streets, and gathering places. Join us in August for the 2025 edition, murals, ideas, community, and conversation await.
